The Quincys launches tomorrow

Gregor & Zanni

I’ve been a bit quiet on the old blog front lately. I guess I have been conserving energy, and redirecting what energy I have available in the evenings into our Quincy project.

So after two years of making music, and the last three months of working really hard on the production side of things, we are launching tomorrow.

Excited. Nervous. Hoping it’s all going to turn out ok.

We have had some great interest in the project already. There should be some local Northern Rivers’ rag press this Thursday, and some lovely blog coverage.

I guess the whole essence of the project is that it will unravel over time though; and that’s part of the point. We are releasing our first song tomorrow called Flowers For The Bees, and the following weeks we’ll release related activities and stories.

Early December, we’ll launch our second song, Rosie, Time For Bed. Every month for twelve months {and beyond} we’ll release new music.

When I was chatting to a journalist last week, I was asked what makes this launch story-worthy. My answer was that I think we are trying something new here. There’s band websites, music websites, kids’ websites…but we are integrating a lot of these things, and taking them in a new direction.

The Quincys is more than just a music website. It’s an evolving story centred around The Quincys’ imaginary world. The songs are shared through stories, and there will be related activities, so kids can get involved in more ways than just listening to the music.

But the music could stand alone. I am so proud of my husband Gregor, who’s played music all of his life, but I reckon has really found his niche with kids’ music. My girls adore the songs. Even Rosie {who’s barely two} sings them continuously. And the feedback we are getting from others is that other children, and their parents, are loving the songs too.

We have been burning the wick at both ends, so they say, but it is totally worth it. Creating stuff together, as a family, is one of the most satisfying experiences I have had.

I hope you come by tomorrow to visit The Quincys, and hear our new song. Our project’s completely self-funded, so if you would like to support us to continue it, feel free to purchase the song through iTunes or Google Play, and you can add to your collection through the year, as we release a new song each month.

So, what’s the first song all about?

Here’s us chatting about it:
